A stable complex of RNA and peptide (ribonucleopeptide) provides a convenient approach to tailor a receptor for small molecules. In vitro selection of an RNA-derived pool of ribonucleopeptide afforded a ribonucleopeptide receptor specific for phosphotyrosine.
