The reactivity of a 2,4,6-triphenylpyrylium scaffolding was used as a chromogenic amine reporter. The material UVM-7, in which mesoporous nanometer sized MCM-41 type particles were joined together in micrometer-sized conglomerates, which gave rise to an important textural porosity that facilitates the movement of the active species through the solid.
